DANCE ALL NIGHT LONG!!!

We had our very first recital! On Tuesday June 9th and Wednesday June 10th, the Diversity Dance Studio dancers dominated the stage at Alberta Bair Theature. "Dance All Night Long" was an unbelievable first show for Diversity Dance Studio.

The stage lit up at 7pm and the dancing began with Elite, Stardom, Shining Stars, and the Sassy Stars. The Starlets followed, dancing like princesses, the Rising Stars truely became "Superstars," Starbound flew around the stage gracefully, and Starpower expressed some true personality. The entire show was full of amazing dancers of all ages. Of course the little ones always steel the show with their adorable smiles and true excitement for the stage. However, all the groups gave something very special and fun to watch.

The stage was absolutely packed with energy from all the dancers as the evening came to an end with a huge "Celebration." What a successful show Diversity Dance Studio had. Amantha and Lisa (the studio directors) are more then proud of every single one of their dancers and teachers, and cannot wait for many more fabulous shows to come!

Competition Season

We have had an amazing first year of dance competitions and are beyond proud of all our competition dancers. Our season consisted of three outstanding competitions: Spotlight Dance Cup, Dance Educators of America, and Thunderstruck!

Our first competition was Spotlight Dance Cup, held in Billings at the Holiday Inn Convention Center. Diversity Dance Studio did very well in every category and even took some overall high scores in a few. The overall Diamond in the Future Gem solo category went to Iyana Fawcette for "Just Fine." The overall Diamond in the Duo and Trio Future Gem category went to Brynn Barriger and Mady Mracheck for "It's Magic." Kierra Egger took the Overall high Junior solo award for "It's about that Walk." Studio directors Amantha Vandiviere and Lisa Oppegaard were both recognized for outstanding choreography awards. At the end of the weekend they gave out a very special award for the "Best Sportsmanship," and we are so happy and proud of our studio for getting this award! We couldn't ask for a better ending to the weekend!

The second competition was DEA (Dance Educators of America). For this competition and workshop, all but two or our groups traveled to Great Falls, Montana for an exciting weekend. Again, Diversity Dance Studio did exceptionally well in all areas and all ages! We were so excited about getting a Platinum for our Production Number, "This Year." This means every single one of our dancers got a Platinum award over the weekend! Other special awards went to: Lauren Powers for the Modern award, Tippy Dringman for the Character award, Kehley Grosulak and Katie Kitzenberg for the lyrical award, and Kierra Egger for the Jazz award. Kierra Egger also got the highest score of the weekend for her jazz solo, "It's about that Walk."

Last but not Least was Thunderstruck, held at the Alberta Bair Theatre. This competition, again was full of "Lightning Golds." We took first place overall in many categories starting with the petite division in Starbound's lyrical dance "Fly Away." The Sassy Stars took the Junior overall high score for "Little Girl" and Stardom received the overall high score for "That's Not my Name." Our top group Elite, won the high score for their hip hop dance "Girls." First place overall solo and duo winners were Kierra Egger, Carlie Brown, Shelby Dangerfield, and Jessica Dringman. We are so excited about winning the Directors Cruise that is awarded to the top studio of the weekend! Thanks ladies, way to go!!!
